Sharlayne Jackson-Prevost, a life-long Democrat, is a founding partner of the VAST Law Group, LLC – an all-women’s law firm with a combined 65 years of experience, specializing in the areas of personal injury, succession, workers compensation, and family law. She also serves as a City Attorney for the City of Kenner, and is an Administrative Hearing Officer for the Bureau of Administrative Adjudication in Jefferson Parish.

 

A graduate of Southern University Law Center, Sharlayne has 15 years of experience taking her first steps in her professional career as an intern with the Louisiana Supreme Court, then law clerk for the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board and the Innocence Project of New Orleans, and legislative assistant with the Louisiana House of Representatives. She honed her skills as corporate counsel and, later, vice president of nsoro MasTec, LLC – a Fortune 500 company – where she oversaw risk management and acted as a legal liaison advising on all legal issues including, but not limited to, policy analysis, operational decisions, contract review, ethics and conflicts of interest.

 

In addition to being a full-time attorney, Sharlayne is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association; a member of the Jefferson Beautification, Inc./Parkway Promenade – a volunteer, private sector, non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation formed in 1990 to provide funding for tree planting and beautification projects on public green spaces in Jefferson Parish and to promote tree planting and beautification through education and public awareness; a former Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee member; and a founding member of both the Society for Progressive Women and Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale. She also volunteers with the Justice and Accountability Center of Louisiana, which tackles the deficiencies in the post-conviction phase of the criminal justice system.
